“…If you do not believe that `I am’, you will indeed die in your sins…” –John 8:24

Hagibis, the Tagalog word for “speed” and “fast,” is the name of a typhoon hat struck Japan recently, bringing rain and flooding, along with death and destruction. Fukushima, where the worst nuclear meltdown took place in 2011, took the brunt of the storm.
As of this writing, 15 people have been confirmed dead, 140 injured, and some 230,000 displaced.
News like this is not unique. In many parts of the world, especially in desert countries, such as those in the Middle East, have been experiencing strong rains, surging floods, and howling winds more often.
My point: With such incidents occurring, countries should be prepared. Why do I say this? There have already been warnings. Many claim such natural disasters are caused by global warming and climate change. The reports claim such circumstances will lead to harsher and more prolonged rains, deadlier floods, and more devastating winds.
However, I suggest looking at other possible reasons why such destructive events are happening. Such events were expressly predicted by Jesus, our God and Savior who is God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
The prediction about killer rains, floods, and winds can be found Matthew 7:24-27. In these verses, Jesus said: “The rains, floods, and winds, are sure to come. They will cause death and destruction to many.”
“Only two kinds of people will face the calamitous rains, floods, and winds,” Jesus said. “The first are those who are said to be ‘wise’—or those who listen to His word and obey His commands.”
“These wise men and women will not perish, nor suffer any form of destruction, even if the rains, floods, and winds come,” he noted.
The second type of people who will face the rains, floods, and winds, according to Jesus, are the “fools”—those who do not listen to Him or, even if they do listen to Him, do not obey Him. These kinds of people will surely die and perish with the arrival of calamity.
He warned us all.
The only question is, to those reading this column, are you wise or foolish?
