The electoral protest filed against Himamaylan City Mayor Raymund Tongson and Vice Mayor Justin Silos Gatuslao was junked by the Commission on Elections-First Division (Comelec-First Division) on the grounds of “insufficient in form and content.”
The Comelec issued certificates of finality on the decision as the complainants, mayoral candidate Carminia Bascon and her running mate Raymund Gatuslao, did not file motions for reconsideration with the prescribed period.
In response to the decision, both elected officials said they hope the city moves past the “wounds and divisions caused by the election.”
“We are building a better city,” Tongson noted.
