Negrense boxer Joepher Montano captured the ASEAN Boxing Federation super lightweight title over the weekend after disposing of Benjie Suganob in one round at the Gaisano Grand Bacolod. The Negrense boxer was coming off a split decision loss to John Ruba of Indonesia in last July’s International Boxing Organization-Oceania/World Boxing Council-Asian Boxing Council continental welterweight title bout.
Montano immediately imposed his presence with powerful left and right combinations, which eventually forced the referee to end the fight.
With the win, the champion improved to 11-5-2 win-loss-draw record, including 10 stoppage wins. Meanwhile, Suganob dropped to a 10-8-1 record, with five knockout wins./ASC, WDJ
