Mayor questions basis of the evaluation

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) recently released the results of their assessment of clearing operations across Negros Occidental and found Binalbagan was the only locality to fail their evaluation.
Across the country, a total 97 local government units were found to be non-compliant with the DILG memorandum.
In an interview over the weekend, Binalbagan Mayor Alejandro Mirasol questioned the DILG over the basis of the evaluation and claimed the DILG evaluation team sent to Ilog gave Binalbagan an 80 percent rating.
The mayor insisted local officials did their best to comply with President Rodrigo Duterte’s order and cleared all illegal structures within the municipality which occupied government-owned roads.
Mirasol added, he is planning to meet with DILG-Negros Occidental director, Atty. Ferdinand Panes, today in order to discuss the issue.
Based on the DILG reports, Bago City, Kabankalan City, San Carlos City, Silay City, Victorias City, Moises Padilla, Murcia, Toboso, and Don Salvador Benedicto were among the highest rated in the province./DGB, WDJ
