One person is confirmed dead while another was seriously injured following a collision early yesterday morning between a sedan and a pick-up truck at Kilometer 15 in Bago City’s Barangay Calumangan.
Police identified the fatality as 41-year-old Franky Dorepes, a resident of Pulupandan; while the injured was 60-year-old Efren Villanes, a resident of Bacolod City’s Barangay Pahanocoy.
Bago City police traffic investigator, Police Corporal Ronald Javier, said Dorepes was driving northbound in his sedan when he shifted into the southbound lane and collided with the pick-up truck Villanes was riding.
The police official said it is very likely the driver was traveling too fast, pointing out, the sedan’s front portion was completely destroyed as compared to the pick-up truck’s front, which suffered heavy damage.
Dorepes was immediately rushed to the Bago City District Hospital but he was declared dead on arrival by hospital staff.
Villanes, meanwhile, was rushed at the Riverside Medical Center in Bacolod City and is now recovering from his injuries.
Police are now looking for the driver of the pick-up truck./DGB, WDJ
