The Iloilo City Council approved a P2.3 million supplemental budget earlier this month in order to establish a dialysis center in the Molo district’s Barangay East Baluarte.
“This project is one of our priorities to address the health needs and concerns of constituents,” said Iloilo City Mayor Jerry P. Treñas. “The Department of Health (DOH) regional office will be donating four dialysis machines.”
Earlier this year, the mayor said he was looking into a site for the proposed Iloilo City Hospital, along with plans to establish the aforementioned dialysis center.
“We already had a briefing with the regional DOH office for the establishment of a city hospital,” the mayor noted at the time. “They will start with the building construction as soon as we secure the lot requirement.”
Treñas said the city government is eyeing a 50-bed capacity facility, which is speculated would cost around P58 million a year.
In terms of a local dialysis center, he called it a “priority.”/WDJ
