Over P7M expected from food sales

Officials for the upcoming 2019 University Games (UniGames), which will be held at the University of San Agustin in Iloilo City’s City Proper district from October 19 to 27, project over P7 million will be generated from food sales when the city hosts over 2,500 delegates representing 40 schools.
“The event will generate around P750,000 worth of money [from] food alone if each delegate spends P300 a day for their meals, excluding snacks, transportation, and souvenirs,” explained UniGames President Roger A. Banzuela. “The city could generate a total income of P7.5 million in 10 days.”
Both the school’s main campus and their location in the Jaro district’s Barangay Sambag will serve as lodging facilities for the student-athletes.
Last year, a total of 48 colleges and universities participated in last year’s UniGames in Dumaguete City./WDJ
