Escalante City native James Yap of the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters is expected to be out for two weeks with a groin injury. The Negrense shooting guard suffered the injury after last week’s 69-68 loss to the Magnolia Hotshots.
“He’s out for at least two weeks,” said Rain or Shine head coach Carlos Garcia. “Nung first half pa lang ng game sabi niya hindi niya na raw kaya; masakit daw (During the first half of the game, he was already saying he couldn’t continue; it appeared to be painful).”
“We did not want to gamble with that,” he added.
The coach mentioned Yap’s previous groin injury during the earlier Commissioner’s Cup.
“The last time na nagka-groin injury siya medyo nagtagal (He was out for a while after his previous groin injury),” Garcia pointed out. “I don’t know how bad this is.”
During Yap’s absence, Rain or Shine is scheduled to play the Phoenix Pulse Fuel Masters, Alaska Aces, and Blackwater Elite./ASC, WDJ
