Negros Occidental provincial legal officer, Atty. Alberto Nillas, Jr. yesterday said the 10 lawyers of the Provincial Legal Office (PLO) in Negros Occidental “are not allowed to private practice.” The government official noted, he is also included.
“I come from government service, too,” he said. “I am used to serving the public first.”
The provincial official said he told all the lawyers to “focus first on their work at the provincial government.”
Earlier, Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said he approved requests from 89 doctors assigned to different provincial government-operated district hospitals to private practice.
The governor, after taking office on July 1, cancelled the “authority to practice” for all provincial government officials and employees./DGB, WDJ
