The Negros Oriental Provincial Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict consultation and government service caravan is set to arrive in Canlaon City today. The event, referred to as “Dagyawan,” provides local communities to interact with government agencies.
“The caravan brings services closer to far-flung barangays with the intention to bring the city or municipal government to the hinterland barangays because they are always there,” explained Department of Interior and Local Government-Region VI Director Leocadio Trovela. “If the national agencies [are] not available they can continue to offer the services.”
Canlaon City barangays Lumapao and Bayog have been tagged as “conflict areas.”
During an earlier planning workshop at the Negros First Residences function room. Philippine Army 303rd Infantry Brigade commander, Brigadier General Benedict Arevalo, said, “This kind of task force is to acknowledge the fact that the solution to end the insurgency problem is not in the hands of the security forces alone.”/WDJ
