The University of Santo Tomas (UST) and Adamson University advanced to the 2019 Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference finals following wins over the weekend at the San Juan Arena. UST went toe-to-toe with Ateneo de Manila University (AdMU) and scored a 20-25, 25-20, 25-16, 19-25, 16-14 win in their semifinal; while Adamson pulled off a 25-18, 14-25, 25-17, 25-15 win over De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde.
Ejiya Laure top-scored for UST with 21 points on 17 attacks, three aces, and a block; while Janna Torres contributed 14 points; and Ennajie Laure added 12 markers.
With the match pushed to a fifth set, UST took a 13-11 lead following a Maji Mangulabnan ace; however, AdMU replied with back-to-back hits to tie the score at 14-all.
Laure then pushed UST to match point with an off-the-block hit before AdMU’s Pauline Gaston committed an attack error, sealing UST’s win.
In the other match, Trisha Genesis led Adamson with 20 points off 13 attacks, six from service aces, and one from a block.
