After local government officials recently noticed how motorcycle shops often use city sidewalks to display their products, the Bacolod City Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has ordered barangay officials to take action against those businesses. DILG-Bacolod City Director Ma. Joy Maredith Madayag described the displayed motorcycles as “illegally-parked vehicles.”
“We recommend they should have their display areas and not use the sidewalks as their extension,” she explained.
The government official stated the issue is the responsibility of barangay officials.
She noted, once action is taken, they are required to report it to the city.
Madayag said DILG validating teams will then report the matter to the national office and the central office will conduct a random inspection to validate the report.
“It’s up to the DILG secretary to sanction the mayors and barangay officials,” she added./DGB, WDJ
