Negros Occidental Provincial Budget Officer Percival Salado yesterday revealed the province’s 2020 budget is P4.2 billion, up from P4 billion in the previous year, or a five percent increase. He said his office is in the final stage of preparing next year’s budget.
The provincial official noted, the province saw a 12 percent increase in the internal revenue allotment, which is a local government unit’s share of national tax revenue.
“We are collating the data and the documentary requirements,” he noted.
Salado said the budgets for the majority of departments and offices are already final.
With the submission deadline for the budget falling on October 16, he added, “I will also be waiting for the return of Atty. Rayfrando Diaz, the provincial administrator, to sign the budget of some offices.”
Meanwhile, Salado also touched upon the proposal to increase government employee salaries, which he noted, “It is still in Congress.”
“Salary increases for national offices [are] different [from] that of local government units,” the provincial official said.
He added, salary hikes may happen in the second half of 2020 or in 2021./DGB, WDJ
