Bantay Dagat volunteers recently underwent trainings on basic life support, along with water search and rescue, at the Buenos Aires Mountain Resort in Bago City, which began on September 30 and concluded last Friday.
Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson met with the 24 trainees from across the province.
“For you to be able to save lives in water, discipline, skills, courage, and compassion are the most important qualifications of water search and rescue responders,” he said to the group.
The program was a collaborative project between the Provincial Disaster and Management Program Division, Office of the Provincial Agriculturist, and the Philippine Coast Guard.
To date, over 60 Bantay Dagat volunteers have graduated from the training since last month./WDJ
