Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO) director, Police Colonel Romeo Baleros, yesterday issued an order for all personnel to register to vote. He said the order came directly from national headquarters wherein all police personnel are required to register with the Commission on Elections (Comelec) as they are required to exercise their right to suffrage every election.
The police official said, in the previous election, 500 out of the 1,800 eligible police officers permanently posted to the province cast their votes.
Baleros said, with Philippine National Police personnel numbering around 220,000, he believes they would contribute a large number of votes to the 2022 national elections.
He added, any personnel who fails to register with the Comelec could face administrative sanctions for disobeying lawful orders./DGB, WDJ
