Amid implementation of the Universal Health Care (UHC) Law, the Negros Occidental Comprehensive Health Program (NOCHP) is under review. Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson noted, the Department of Health regional director already assured the province will recieve more funds with UHC.
Under UHC, expenses for patients admitted to government hospitals are covered, including laboratory fees.
The governor suggested using the provincial program to cover the costs of medicine for discharged patients.
The recommended budget for NOCHP next year is P120 million; however, Lacson said it would depend on the UHC implementing rules and regulations, which he said would likely reduce the NOCHP budget./DGB, WDJ
