The Columbian Dyip got their offense going in the second half as it scored a 114-108 victory over NorthPort Batang Pier last night in the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Jaymar Perez tallied 26 points, 11 rebounds, and six assists for the Dyip; as Khapri Alston earned a double-double with 25 points and 17 rebounds; Rashawn McCarthy contributed 18 markers.
After being down by as much as 12 points in the opening half, the Dyip started the third quarter strong behind Perez and Alston to tie the score at 74-all before taking an 86-78 lead on back-to-back triples by Eric James Camson and McCarthy.
Batang Pier, however, countered with a rally in the fourth to come to within 99-97 but timely conversions from Camson widened the Dyip’s lead anew to 112-103.
NorthPort made their last push and trimmed the deficit to 112-108 off a three-pointer from Kevin Ferrer but the Dyip responded with two free throws from Reden Celda to seal the win./ASC, WDJ
