Around 50 Vallacar Transit Inc. (VTI) employees slammed their alleged “illegal termination” during a press conference yesterday morning at the Negros Press Club. The group said they decided to come out in order to inform the public about their union and claimed they were let go following the return of Leo Roy Yanson as company president.
“We strongly condemn our dismissal from work without justifiable reason and process,” they said. “We were forced to sign blank documents, which we consider an oppressive move against us, the employees; it is also a maltreatment to us as individuals.”
The group also insisted the termination came about through collusion between Yanson and their union, the Philippine Agricultural, Commercial and Industrial Workers Union-Ceres.
“We strongly condemn the silence of our union and its pro-management stance,” the employees said. “This is an act of treachery on the part of the union, led by Franny Santarin and Hernani Braza.”
The union did not take care of us, they added./DGB, WDJ
