Aside from yesterday’s transport strike, a demonstration was also held in protest of the proposed Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity and Expression Equality (SOGIE) Bill at the Bacolod Public Plaza.
Former city councilor, Atty. Lyndon Caña, who serves as lead convenor for the Negros Inter-Faith Against SOGIE, said their “humble rally” was intended to show the bill’s negative implications.
He said the rally allowed them to air their sentiment to the local officials, along with congress and President Rodrigo Duterte.
Meanwhile, Caña insisted they are not against the LGBT community.
If passed into law, the SOGIE bill would end stigmatization of the LGBTQ community in media and prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation./DGB, WDJ
