DLSU beats UST in UAAP men’s basketball

De La Salle University (DLSU) scored a 92-77 win over the University of Santo Tomas (UST) in the 82nd UAAP men’s basketball season last Saturday at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
Encho Serrano tallied a career-best 29 points, along with five rebounds, for DLSU; while Aljun Melecio scored a conference-best 27 points, spiked by six outside conversions; and Jamie Malonzo missed a double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds.
DLSU led from the start behind Melecio and Serrano with a 20-14 first quarter edge, which later grew to 42-32 after the first 20 minutes.
UST showed some life in the third as they cut their deficit to 54-50 but an avalanche of points from DLSU players Serrano, Malonzo, and Justine Baltazar, along with back-to-back treys by Melecio, gave them their widest lead of 17 points.
Among other results, Far Eastern University scored an 83-71 win over Adamson University and the University of the East pulled off a 78-72 victory over National University./ASC, WDJ
