Early goals were that was needed with Ceres-Negros FC and Stallion Laguna FC playing to a 1-1 draw over the weekend in the 2019 Philippines Football League (PFL) at the Biñan Football Stadium in Laguna. Ceres striker Robert Lopez Mendy scored in the fourth minute and an equalizer from Stallion Laguna forward Abou Sy came in the sixth minute.
The Bacolod City-based club remains undefeated with their only other instance of dropping points in the league came in their season opener, when they played to a 2-2 draw against Stallion Laguna.
“We started good but with the equalizer and the weather, we had a hard time in finding solutions,” said Ceres keeper Roland Muller. “At the end of the day, it’s 1-1 and we’re still unbeaten.”
Despite the draw, Ceres remains atop the PFL table on 50 points. They need to win three of their last five matches to secure a third consecutive championship./ASC, WDJ
