An accused bully was stabbed to death last weekend by a fellow student at Sitio Mambucog in Talisay City’s Barangay Zone 16.
Police identified the fatality as 12-year-old Arnel Braza, a Grade 7 student at Rafael B. Lacson Memorial High School in the said city.
Investigations by Police Chief Master Sergeant Melinda Taganile of the Talisay City Police Station-Women and Children’s Protection Desk revealed, around 3:00 p.m., Braza was allegedly assaulted and stabbed by 18-year-old Joseph Durable, a student of the same school.
The assailant reportedly fled following the incident, while the victim was immediately rushed to the city’s health clinic and later to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod City for treatment.
However, Braza eventually succumbed to his wounds.
Durable, meanwhile, was arrested a few hours after the stabbing.
Authorities recovered the knife used, which measured almost nine inches from tip to handle.
When interrogated by police, the suspect blamed it on Braza’s “constant bullying,” claiming the latter was always challenging him to fight.
The victim’s parents, meanwhile, denied the allegations. Their position was corroborated by the victim’s friends, who claimed Braza never bullied Durable.
The assailant faces murder charges and is currently detained at the Talisay City Police Station./DGB, WDJ
