Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said he will consult local historians over the proposal to rename North and South Capitol Roads to Smile Road and MassKara Road, respectively.
The governor said consultations will commence once he formally receives a copy of the ordinance, which was authored by Councilor Carl Lopez.
According to reports as of last Monday, the city official said he planned on sending the copy.
Lacson earlier said he believes such name changes would be the responsibility of the national government and may even need an approval from Congress.
Lopez said the new names were suggested since the two roads are part of the Lacson Street venue for the annual MassKara Festival./DGB, WDJ
