Facebook recently brought their Community Boost program, an initiative that seeks to help small businesses grow, to Dumaguete City with a gathering at Brooke’s Place.
“We’re happy to welcome Facebook to Dumaguete City to help enhance community leaders’ digital skills and make sure our vibrant community of entrepreneurs and small businesses are able to get more out of the internet,” said Department of Trade and Industry-Region VII Assistant Director Nannette Arbon. “I’m very proud that Facebook selected our region—specifically Dumaguete City and Cebu—to be among the first four Philippine cities to benefit from this program.”
Among the ways the program assists small businesses is by providing entrepreneurs with the skills to keep pace with a “mobile-first market.”
“At Facebook, we want to help people and communities build meaningful online connections to unlock economic opportunities and empower their advocacies,” said Facebook Philippines Programs and Policy head Clare Amador. “With Facebook Community Boost, we take this a step further by visiting cities, providing resources and tools for small businesses and organizations to thrive online, so that more people could benefit from their growth.”
The program is scheduled to visit Manila on October 23 and Davao City on November 20.
Last year, Facebook Philippines, through its #SheMeansBusiness initiative, which seeks to encourage female entrepreneurship, hosted an event in Bacolod City, led by Connected Women, an organization that provides venues to train and guide female entrepreneurs.
“At Connected Women, we aim to educate women entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs on digital tools so they can scale their business,” explained Connected Women CEO and co-founder Gina Romero. “We hope women entrepreneurs who attended our event in Bacolod City can take the lessons from the workshop to bring their business ideas to life.”/WDJ
