The Motolite Power Builders scored a 25-19, 25-23, 25-22 sweep over the Chef’s Classics Red Spikers in the ongoing 2019 Premier Volleyball League Open Conference last Wednesday at the San Juan Arena.
Diana Carlos spearheaded the win with 26 points on 23 attacks, two blocks, and a service ace; while Bacolodnon middle blocker Jessma Ramos delivered 11 markers; Maria Lina Molde flirted with triple-double off 16 digs, 12 excellent receptions, and eight points; and Myla Pablo made her return from injury and added two points.
Motolite felt the pressure in the opening set after Chef’s Classics came back after being down 16-11; however, they eventually managed to secure both the first and second sets.
In the third, heroics from Carlos carried Motolite to their sweep.
“A win is a win but, in the last two sets, we were kind of vulnerable,” said Motolite head coach Godfrey Okumu. “We let them lead and then we started fighting from behind.”
“Sometimes a team needs to play like this to rediscover themselves,” he added.
In the other match, the Choco Mucho Flying Titans also pulled off a sweep with a 25-19, 25-23, 25-22 win over the BaliPure Purest Water Defenders./ASC, WDJ
