San Beda University inched closer to a “final four” berth following their 91-76 win over San Sebastian College-Recoletos (SSC-R) last Tuesday in the 95th NCAA men’s basketball season at the San Juan Arena. San Beda currently holds an unscathed 13-0 record.
James Canlas top-scored for San Beda with 20 points, while Donald Tankoua contributed 18, and Calvin Oftana added 15.
“I salute the players for this,” said San Beda head coach Boyet Fernandez. “We were having problems in the first three games in the second round but I’m happy how they responded; they showed what they are capable of.”
San Beda set the tone early on with Oftana and Canlas anchoring the offense in the opening period and surged to a 35-17 edge in the second quarter.
In the second half, Tankoua, Oftana, and Evan Nelle carried San Beda to secure the win.
In the other game, Colegio de San Juan de Letran scored an 87-74 win over De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde./ASC, WDJ
