National University (NU) captured their first win in the ongoing 82nd UAAP men’s basketball season with a 61-39 win over Far Eastern University (FEU) yesterday at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
Dave Ildefonso spearheaded the win with 20 points and eight rebounds.
“I can’t believe this,” said NU coach Michael Jay Jarin. “We could be easily 5-1 or 4-2 at this point but we stayed the course and were gifted with a win.”
Ildefonso set the tone for NU in the opening period as he anchored a 16-4 start before dominating FEU at the half, 35-13.
Their lead extended to as much as 29 points in the third period before FEU narrowed the gap to 18 points./ASC, WDJ
