The Bacolod City Sangguniang Panlungsod recently passed a resolution called on the City Engineeris Office to install streetlights along all local roads that lack the fixtures, along with replacing those in need of repair.
The legislation, penned by City Councilor Al Victor Espino, said, “The installation of streetlights can also be considered as a measure to prevent crimes as criminals are usually hesitant to commit crimes [in] areas that are well-lit because they can be easily-identified or recognized.”
“The installation of streetlights to both local and barangay roads benefits the general welfare of the city,” the policy added. “This is one of the ways to prevent or ease crimes and accidents.”
The resolution noted, with streetlights, accidents can be prevented if streets are well-lit./DGB, WDJ
