At least three people were killed, while two others were injured, following a hit-and-run incident yesterday morning involving a sedan and two pedicabs along the national highway in Talisay City’s Barangay Bubog.
Police identified the fatalities as 57-year-old Celsa Marabulas, 24-year-old Jason Mendoza, and 31-year-old Archie Castillio, all residents of the said city.
Two other victims, 23-year-old Rutchil Marabulas and 36-year-old Rollin Diasanta, suffered minor injuries.
Talisay City police traffic investigator, Police Master Sergeant Michael McDowell, said the two pedicabs were tailing one another when a vehicle driven by 28-year-old Feb Dharel Medina rammed the pair.
Medina then allegedly sped away heading south.
The three fatalities died on the spot, while the two others were rushed by bystanders to a local health clinic for treatment.
A few hours after the incident, Talisay City police arrested Medina at his residence in the city’s Barangay Zone 2. Police also recovered the vehicle, which was covered by a tarp.
The suspect faces criminal charges and is detained at the Talisay City Police Station./DGB, WDJ
