The Negros Impact Coalition, which launched last Monday, seeks to build 10,000 homes across Negros Occidental by 2024. As part of the launch a ribbon-cutting was held at a housing project in Silay City’s Barangay E. Lopez, along with an event at the Seda Capitol Central attended by the Negros Occidental provincial government and various non-government organizations such as the Ayala Foundation and Habitat for Humanity.
The coalition was convened by the Habitat for Humanity and the Hilti Foundation, which seeks to align their efforts with the provincial government and their shelter plans for the province.
“I am just glad that the coalition provides not just shelters but holistic and sustainable communities that promote inclusive growth and sustainable human development with special attention to those living in vulnerable zones by providing resilient houses,” said Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson.
In planning for the proposed housing developments, the Negros Impact Coalition seeks to bring experts in four identified strategies, namely, housing quality, site development and city planning, financing for low cost housing, and community cohesion./DGB, WDJ
