Cone to coach Gilas Pilipinas

Barangay Ginebra San Miguel head coach Tim Cone will coach the Philippine men’s national basketball team, Gilas Pilipinas, for the upcoming 2019 Southeast Asian Games, which is scheduled to begin on November 30 in the Philippines.
“Even though my appointment is just a stop-gap measure and a short-term commitment, I am incredibly honored and proud to be selected to coach in the SEA Games,” he said. “I’m very happy to help in any way.”
“I will sit down with the SBP (Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas) to come up with a plan of attack in terms of preparation,” the head coach added. “We’re hoping, by the end of the week, we’ll have a pool of players working together at full force.”
Cone is the only coach to earn two PBA grand slams and is currently the winningest head coach in the PBA with 21 championships.
He previously coached the national team during the 1998 Asian Games, where they won bronze./ASC, WDJ
