Ceres-Negros FC moved closer to clinching a third-straight Philippines Football League (PFL) title yesterday afternoon following a 2-0 win over Stallion Laguna FC at the Biñan Football Stadium in Laguna.
After a scoreless opening half, midfielder Bienvenido Marañon put the Bacolod City-based club on the board in the 51st minute. This was followed two minutes later with a goal from striker Robert Lopez Mendy.
While the win extends their lead atop the PFL table for the time being, Ceres FC head coach Risto Vidaković earlier said they do not want to discuss a three-peat just yet.
“It is still too early to talk about the title,” he said./ASC, WDJ
