Capitol roads to be sent to Lacson

After Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson earlier requested Bacolod City Councilor Carl Lopez for a copy of an ordinance he penned that seeks to rename North and South Capitol Roads to Smile Road and MassKara Road, respectively, the city official said he will send the governor a copy.
The governor earlier said he would make his decision on the matter known once he receives a copy of the Sangguniang Panlungsod decision.
Based on the ordinance, the new names were suggested since the two roads are part of the Lacson Street venue for the annual MassKara Festival.
According to Lopez, he also consulted Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer who offered no opposition to the resolution.
Meanwhile, the city councilor noted, he spoke with the Department of Public Works and Highways-Western Visayas, who said the roads in question are national roads. However, the provincial government insists they are provincial roads./DGB, WDJ
