Senator Manny Pacquiao, who was in Bacolod City over the weekend for the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League game where the Bacolod Master Sardines scored an 89-80 win over the Soccsksargen Marlins at the University of St. La Salle Coliseum, distributed over P1.5 million to local residents.
Since bagging the World Boxing Association super welterweight title following a split decision win over American fighter Keith Thurman last July, the senator has been giving out P1,000 at random to various beneficiaries. The practice began in his hometown of General Santos City and continued once he touched down in Bacolod City last Friday, accompanied by his wife Jinkee.
Most of the recipients waited at the GT Hotel, where the couple was staying.
Pacquiao then proceeded to hand out cash to the crowds that were stretched along both sides of the road.
The champion boxer also provided cash for the victims of a recent fire in Barangay 2.
When asked how much he had given out in Bacolod City, Pacquiao replied, “P1.5 million plus.”/DGB, WDJ
