A total of four earthquakes were recorded in the local area over the weekend.
According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), a 2.8-magnitude tremor was detected Saturday morning around 7:45 a.m. with an epicenter pinpointed north of Patnongon, Antique. That evening, a 2.2-magnitude earthquake was detected south of Sipalay City, Negros Occidental at 9:41 p.m.; which was followed by a 2.8-magnitude quake recorded south of Guimbal, Iloilo at 11:17 p.m.
Meanwhile, a minor 1.5-magnitude earthquake was recorded just north of Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental yesterday morning around 5:06 a.m.
Subsequent Phivolcs bulletins reported no damages were incurred as a result of the earthquakes nor were there any anticipated aftershocks.
Quakes ranging between 1.0 and 3.0 in magnitude are often classified as a Level 1 on the Mercalli Intensity Scale, where the tremor goes almost undetected./WDJ
