The San Miguel Beermen earned a berth in the East Asia Super League-Terrific 12 semifinals following their 101-92 win over the Ryukyu Golden Kings of Japan’s B.League last Thursday at the Tap Seac Stadium in Macau.
Dez Wells led the Beermen with 42 points, while Terrence Romeo contributed 18 markers, Lester Prosper added 18 points and five rebounds, and Ilonggo guard Paul Zamar scored nine.
San Miguel began the game down 12-4 until Wells and Romeo led the attack and built a 31-24 edge. The Beermen went on to extend their lead to 92-77 in the fourth quarter.
“We knew this would be a difficult game for us,” said Beermen coach Leo Austria. “They [were going to] come out fighting hard because they’re the defending champions.”
The PBA team next faces Liaoning Flying Leopards of the Chinese Basketball Association this weekend, Saturday, September 21./ASC, WDJ
