Ceres-Negros FC remains undefeated when it comes to the ‘Visayas Clásico’ this season after taking their third yesterday afternoon with a 2-0 victory over Kaya FC-Iloilo at the Biñan Football Stadium in Laguna. The win extends the Bacolod City-based club’s lead atop the 2019 Philippines Football League table to nine points.
The Negrense club took their two previous meetings, winning 2-1 and 1-0.
Both goals were scored within the first half with midfielder Mike Ott scoring in the 15th minute and striker OJ Porteria making it 2-0 in the 29th minute.
Much like their previous meetings tensions ran high.
Both Kaya FC striker Jordan Mintah and Ceres defender Súper were shown red cards and ejected from the match after the forward reportedly elbowed his opponent.
In an earlier meeting, both sides saw players off the pitch after picking up two yellow cards each, along with Ceres coach Risto Vidaković being ejected./ASC, WDJ
