UST, Adamson remain undefeated, advance to Collegiate Conference semis

The University of Santo Tomas (UST) and Adamson University both maintained unbeaten records and recently advanced to the 2019 Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference semifinals. UST pulled off a 25-21, 25-23, 22-25, 25-23 win over Arellano University; while Adamson scored a 25-13, 25-23, 25-13 sweep over Colegio de San Juan de Letrán.
Trailing 21-19 late in the fourth, Kecelyn Galdones scored a hit for UST, which was followed by an exchange of errors. The UST middle blocker then scored again but Arellano outside spiker Charmina Dino responded and tied the set an 23-23.
Back-to-back hits from Ejiya Laure and Janna Torres eventually closed the match.
Laure led with 20 points off 17 kills, two aces, a kill block, and 10 digs; while Galdones finished with 13 markers with all but one coming off kills, along with nine digs; and Torres posted 11 points.
In the other match, Trisha Genesis and Ceasa Pinar finishing with 13 points each for Adamson.
The other teams making the semifinals are Ateneo de Manila University and De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde./ASC, WDJ
