Two people were reported robbed at gunpoint early yesterday morning by four unidentified men near Gate #1 of the Villa Angela Subdivision in Bacolod City’s Barangay Villamonte.
Police identified the victims as 24-year-old Aaron Muñon and 20-year-old Kane Irish Dominguez, both residents of Barangay Dos Hermanas in Talisay City.
Police Station 4 (PS4) commander, Police Lieutenant Rondyl Tapang, said as the victims were walking along Burgos Extension Highway towards Lopues East, a white Toyota Innova stopped beside them. The two occupants then exited the vehicle, pointed their firearms at the victims, and declared a hold-up. The suspects then forcefully retrieved the victims’ belongings, which included a sling bag, three mobile phones, and a coin purse with P580 in cash. They then returned to their vehicle, which executed a U-turn and fled west before turning left heading and south along Circumferential Road.
The victims immediately reported the incident to police, who immediately sent an alert to other units in the city.
About an hour after the incident, around 4:00 a.m., a police patrol spotted the white Toyota Innova near a department store along Burgos Extension. However, as police approached, the driver of the vehicle accelerated and proceeded westward, prompting a chase.
The occupants of the vehicle later bailed at a grassy area along Bag-ong Dalan Road in the city’s Barangay 35 with cops eventually losing sight of the suspects.
Police later recovered some of the victims’ items, along with an empty plastic magazine belonging to a pellet gun.
The owner of the Toyota Innova, whom police have requested not to identify, later appeared at the station and affirmed the vehicle was attached to his rental car business.
Police are presently investigating the incident, while the Toyota Innova was impounded at Bacolod City Police Office headquarters./DGB, WDJ
