Another ‘Visayas Clásico’ is set to take place today at 4:00 p.m. at the Aboitiz Pitch in Lipa City, Batangas as Ceres-Negros FC takes on Kaya FC-Iloilo for the third time in the ongoing 2019 Philippines Football League (PFL). The Bacolod City-based club has taken their two previous meetings, winning 2-1 and 1-0.
Both clubs are coming off convincing wins with Ceres earlier scoring a 7-0 demolition of Philippine Air Force FC while Kaya dismantled Global Makati FC, 5-1.
The two sides currently sit atop the PFL table with Ceres FC leading Kaya FC by six points, 43 points to 37.
In their previous meeting, the Iloilo City-based side was handed an advantage in the 38th minute after Ceres defender Sean Kane was ejected after picking up his second yellow card following an exchange of words with the referee. Shortly after, in the 42nd minute, Ceres coach Risto Vidaković was also kicked out due to another exchange with an official.
However, towards the end of regulation time, the two sides were both down to 10-men as Kaya FC striker Jovin Bedic picked up a second yellow card and was ejected from the match./ASC, WDJ
