The San Miguel Beermen, after taking home both the PBA Philippine Cup and Commissioner’s Cup, will be looking to dominate the East Asia Super League-Terrific 12 competition, which opens today in Macau. The event is expected to run until September 22.
“We want to win; let’s see what will happen,” said San Miguel head coach Leo Austria. “Knowing the players, when they are abroad, ang dinadala dito—hindi San Miguel—ang dinadala dito, kapwa Pilipino at ‘yung bandera ng Pilipinas (Knowing the players, when they go overseas, they bring the country—not San Miguel—they bring their fellow Filipinos and the Philippine flag).”
“I hope na ‘yung makakalaban namin, kaya naming talunin (I hope we can beat our opponents),” he added.
Among those suiting for San Miguel include American players Dez Wells and Lester Prosper.
“Our boss [Ramon S. Ang] suggested to get another import, that’s why we have Prosper,” Austria pointed out.
Also making the roaster are June Mar Fajardo, Marcio Lassiter, Alex Cabagnot, Chris Ross, Terrence Romeo, Christian Standhardinger, Arwind Santos, Matthew Ganuelas-Rosser, Kelly Nabong, Von Pessumal, Paul Zamar, Louie Vigil, Chico Lanete, Ronald Tubid, and Billy Mamaril.
