Brgy. Balabago in the Jaro district continues to top the list
According to the latest report by the Iloilo City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit, based on data gathered between January 1 and September 7, the La Paz district saw the most dramatic increase in reported dengue fever case, rising from 29 cases recorded last year to 433 cases this year, a surge of 1,393.1 percent.
However, Barangay Balabago, in the city’s Jaro district, continues to report the most dengue cases of any individual neighborhood. In the previous report, which accounted for cases recorded between January 1 and August 17, there were 79 total cases reported. In the most recent assessment, the number has since increased to 84.
Barangay Baldoza, located in the La Paz district, came in second with a total of 58 cases.
Most of the cases in the La Paz district were concentrated in Barangays Baldoza and Jereos. The report also notes Barangay Jereos has reported the fourth-highest number of dengue cases in the city with 52.
In the earlier report, the West Visayas State University Medical Center, located in the Jaro district, topped the list among medical facilities with the most patients seeking treatment for dengue fever. According to the latest data, the hospital has seen an increase of over 100 patients, growing from 544 to 675.
In addition, another death was also recorded within the span of time between the two reports, increasing from seven reported fatalities to eight./WDJ
