Genesis Servania of Bacolod City scored a first round stoppage victory last month over Indonesia fighter Ahmad Lahizab. The two fought last August 24 at the Takeda Teva Ocean Arena in Nagoya, Japan. Servania’s win comes after earlier losing an opportunity to take the World Boxing Council-Continental Americas super bantamweight belt following a unanimous decision loss to American boxer Carlos Castro.
The Pinoy fighter delivered multiple combinations until dropping Lahizab with a solid punch. His opponent attempted to continue fighting but the referee stopped the bout.
“I am still slowly regaining my form,” Servania said. “Ngayon medyo kulang pa but I am hoping na makabalik tayo sa title fights by the end of the year (Right now, I am somewhat deficient but I am hoping to return to title fights by the end of the year).”
With the victory, the Bacolodnon boxer improves to a 33-2-0 win-loss-draw record with 16 stoppage victories; meanwhile, Lahizab dropped to a 4-9-1 record, including one knockout win./ASC, WDJ
