San Beda University maintained their undefeated record after pulling off a 73-66 win over Arellano University last week in the 95th NCAA men’s basketball season at the San Juan Arena.
After seeing their 11-point edge trimmed to 60-59, Donald Tankoua took matters into his own hands by scoring nine of San Beda’s final 13 markers.
Tankoua finished with 20 points on 9-of-14 shooting, along with nine rebounds, two assists, and a block; while Ilonggo small forward Clint Doliguez added 12 points, six boards, two assists, two steals, and two blocks; and James Canlas contributed 11 points, three rebounds, and three assists.
“They rallied back, cutting the lead to just one, but our defense stepped up,” said San Beda head coach Boyet Fernandez. “Hopefully, this will be a wake-up call for us.”
In the other game, Mapúa University pulled off a 105-101 double overtime win over Colegio de San Juan de Letran./ASC, WDJ
