A hat trick from striker Robert Lopez Mendy helped Ceres-Negros FC secure a 7-0 win over Philippine Air Force FC in the 2019 Philippines Football League (PFL) over the weekend at the Aboitiz Pitch in Lipa City, Batangas.
Midfielder Bienvenido Marañón got things going in the 32nd minute with forward OJ Porteria doubling the score three minutes later and Lopez Mendy making it 3-0 by the 39th minute.
The Bacolod City-based club went into halftime up 3-0.
Into the second half, Lopez Mendy earned his hat trick off a pair of quick-fire goals in the 72nd and 75th minutes. Midfielder Mike Ott then made it 6-0 in the 85th minute with fellow midfielder Dennis Villanueva closing out the match two minutes later.
With the win, the Negrense side regained their six-point lead atop the PFL table, leading second place Kaya FC-Iloilo, 43 points t0 37.
