NOHS promotes science to local community

In observance of National Science Club Month, which is celebrated throughout September, Negros Occidental High School (NOHS) aims to promote science to the local community.
During a recent press conference, NOHS Principal Mario Amaca pointed out, “The community needs to embrace science in order to seek breakthroughs which [will] have a positive effect to our surroundings.”
Among the activities slated for the observance are a “Science Centrum,” “Symbo Game,” and the 7th Division Scilympics 2019.
National Science Club Month was declared through Presidential Proclamation No. 264, signed in 2002 by then-President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
“A full understanding of science, technology, and environment is vital in the development of a nation in this day and age of information and communications technology in the 21st century,” the policy read. “The youth and students have been identified as a strategic sector, which could be most instrumental in incubating interest and action in science, technology and environment, and as beneficiaries thereof.”/DGB, WDJ
