Marinerong Pilipino Skippers finished the PBA D-League Foundation Cup elimination round with an unblemished slate following their 88-74 win over CEU Scorpions earlier this week at the Paco Arena.
William McAloney tallied 21 points and seven rebounds for Marinerong Pilipino; while Mark Yee added 14 points, eight rebounds, three assists, two blocks, and a steal; Roldan Sara finished with 13 points, five rebounds, and three assists; and Jhonard Clarito and Eliud Poligrates each contributed 10 points.
Marinerong Pilipino clung to a slim four-point lead, 78-74, with 2:12 to go in the game, but Sara converted a four-point play off CEU’s Maodo Malick Diouf, who committed his sixth foul, to make it an 82-74 advantage. Marinerong Pilipino then took full advantage of Diouf’s absence as Yee made a layup to push the lead to 84-74 with 52.9 ticks left, which was more than enough to seal the victory.
