Polls initially delayed due to disagreements

Former ABS-CBN Bacolod news anchor Ryan Gamboa, who currently serves as a Silay City councilor, was recently elected president of the Negros Occidental Philippine Councilors League (PCL), defeating Sagay City Councilor Arthur Christopher Marañon by a vote of 179 to 148 last Thursday at the Acacia Hotel in Bacolod City.
The post earns the city official a seat on the Negros Occidental Provincial Board.
Despite local political coalitions Love Negros and the United Negros Alliance earlier forming an alliance, Gamboa represented the former while Marañon stood for the latter.
Meanwhile, La Carlota City Councilor Julius Martin Asistio ran unopposed for provincial PCL vice president.
Prior to the final result, polls were delayed by at least two hours where there was a conflict over the conduct of the elections.
In addition, several problems also occurred when the voting finally took place.
Don Salvador Benedicto Town Councilor Henry Alcorin said an argument erupted between himself, two other councilors, and Department of the Interior and Local Government officials after three ballots cast were reportedly blank.
The town official said the matter was later settled./DGB, WDJ
