Officials: Victim may have been defecating and lost his footing

A 33-year-old man was found dead yesterday morning after reportedly falling into a storm drain in Bacolod City’s Barangay Banago.
Authorities identified the fatality as Dennis Yanguer, a resident of the said neighborhood.
Barangay Banago Captain Ricky Mijares said he received a call from a local purok official who informed him the remains of a man were found in a storm drain that measured at least 15 feet in height.
Mijares and several local officials, including police, immediately visited the area following the discovery.
Members of the city’s Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office later recovered the remains.
It is still unclear as to how Yanguer fell in the structure but local officials believe the victim may have been defecating and lost his footing.
Local residents, meanwhile, requested barangay officials to cover the drainage hole in order to avoid similar incidents from happening again./DGB, WDJ
