Bacolod Master Sardines failed to hold on to a fourth quarter lead and fell 89-84 to the Rizal Golden Coolers last night in the ongoing Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League Lakan Cup at the Batangas City Coliseum.
After trailing early in the game, Jopher Custodio led the Bacolod offense to pull to a 63-57 edge; however, just before the end of the third period, Rizal managed to narrow the gap to 69-67. By the fourth, Rizal took a 75-71 lead before Bacolod regained a slim advantage, leading 81-80.
Bacolod was then unable to come through as they suffered from poor shooting and several misfires.
Jett Vidal flirted with a triple-double for Rizal with 15 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists; while Lord Casajeros added 14 points; and Kelvin Gregorio contributed 13 markers.
Despite the loss, Custodio finished with double-double on 30 points and 16 rebounds, Nico Paolo Javelona scored 20 points, and Arben Dionson added 12./ASC, WDJ
